I’m appreciated!

What a weekend!  Are you kidding me?

On Saturday we had Trunk or Treat.  I’ll be honest—I didn’t know what kind of turn out to expect.  There was no promo (except for the church sign).  Despite this fact we had a super turn out.  We had HOT DOGS, hay rides, and lots of candy.  Of course, my favorite part was the candy—err….the conversations.  *smile*

It was a blessing to see the people of Emmanuel come together and make this happen.  My job was easy—be there to love those around us.  It was a great evening.

On Sunday we had the Great Okie Roundup.  Again, I wasn’t sure what to expect.  This was my first.  All I knew was that I was supposed to dress up like a cowboy and eat chili after the service.  We were also starting the Dave Ramsey sermon series.  It was quite an exciting morning.  Except for the hiding of the djembe.  That still blows me away.  Following the morning service–which included lots of YEE HAW’ing–we went out to the building for the chili cookoff.  I was quite surprised to find out that it was also a sneaky pastor appreciation!  We really felt the love from ESBC’rs.

A big thank you to everyone for all of the cards, the cake, and love.  It was a fantastic day!

Who is Dave Ramsey?

This week we start a new series.  It is going to be all about $$.  We have the opportunity to hear from one of the the top experts when it comes to finances.  His name is Dave Ramsey.

Who IS Dave?

By age 26 Dave had a net worth of over a million dollars.  Within 2 years he lost everything.  It was then that he decided to stop and really learn about money and how to make wise decisions with it.

Not only was he able to rebuild after mistakes were made but he now helps others.  Dave has formed companies that help with financial counseling, he has a syndicated radio show, and also has regular tv appearances.  He has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, 60 minutes, the Today Show, and Fox Business Network just to name a few.

Dave is a husband, a father of three children, and a follower of Christ.

I am blown away that this teaching is available to our church.  Our church is going to have the opportunity to glean insights from one of the best teachers in the area of finance. I have already watched the teaching and can tell you that the humorous and light hearted approach is going to be super refreshing and engaging for you!
