Patience Young Grasshopper

I hate being patient.  I have noticed that I keep telling my two boys that patience is a virtue.  I happen to stink at this particular virtue.

It seems that I hit stages of anticipation.  During these times it is like I am trying to push the day to end so that I can get to the next day.  How crazy is that?  God has filled TODAY with amazing blessings.  I have intersections that can only take place during this moment and time.

The details of launching a church can begin to eat away and totally consume you.  When?  Where?  How much?  These questions seem to haunt every single step of the process.

As pastor, there are many times that I must and should have an answer.  Then again, there are times that it is ok to say, “I don’t know.”  Wow.  I hate that phrase.  It is so honest.  It is so powerless.  Yet, it is in powerlessness that God seems to gain the most Glory.

I will continue to plan, work, pray, and sweat.  There are a lot of unanswered questions.  One thing is certain—God has a unique way of teaching us all patience.

  1. I like it when people have the guts to say “I don’t know.” I mean, answers are often not so simple as people would like them to be. And when a person says “I don’t know,” it gives the questioner and the person who’s asking the chance to find out the answer together. :)

  2. I think one “Karate Kid” reference should be used daily. Kudos.

PS. I updated. Check it out.

  3. I think I’m so bad at patience that I don’t even know what having patience feels like! :)
I’m impatient for you to write your next blog. HA!

  4. I watched a movie last night that made me think of the title of this blog. No, it wasn’t “Karate Kid.” It was a movie on the sci-fi channel about man eating locusts. Man, those were some mean grasshoppers!
